The Lord commenced the soul of Martha Lee Gay White, 86, of Victoria, Va. into his hands on Sept. 5, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Robert Bennett Gay and Hilda Bruce Gay; wife of the late Cullen Carrington “C.C.” White, Jr.; grandmother of the late, Kelley R. Nowlin; and sister of the late, Bob Gay, Butler Gay, Ike Gay, Joe Gay and Lucille Gay Bragg. She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Nowlin (Jimmy), Patricia Rickman (Roger), Teresa Holder (Tommy) and Donna Reese (Roger); one son, Chuck White; five grandchildren, Chris Rickman, Gay Nowlin, Forrest Rickman, Jennifer Cather and Jonathan Holder; six great-grandchildren, Kynzie Nowlin, Jamerson Cather, Jefferson Rickman, Delaney Rickman, Elijah Holder and Emilie Holder. Martha Lee was a member of Victoria Baptist Church. She retired as a telephone operator for Fort Pickett and later worked at the Lunenburg Post Office. In her younger years she was an avid athlete, playing both basketball and softball. Later in life she enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading and spending time with her family. The family will receive friends at the Staples Funeral Home on Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 10:30AM to 11:30AM Graveside services to follow in the Lakeview Cemetery, Victoria.
