Barbara Jean Atkins, 71, of Rice, Va.  passed away October 22, 2020 from an extended illness. She was born November 19, 1948 in Fauquier County, a daughter of the late James “Jim” Emmett Edwards and Annie Mae Pruett Edwards. She is survived by her beloved and devoted husband, Thomas “Tommy” Edward Atkins of Rice, Va.; two daughters, Martha Elizabeth Long and Charlotte Ann Baker, two sons, Troy Edward Atkins and William “Todd” Atkins; all of the Farmville area; numerous grandchildren and one great-grandchild  two sisters, Alice Walton (Frankie) of Warrenton, Va. and Dotti Raddle of Manassas, Va; one brother, Jimmie Edwards of Florida. Two brothers preceded her in death. Barbara was a retired Quality Control Inspector for Carbon Components  in Farmville. The family will receive friends Saturday October 24, from 1 to 3PM at the Staples Funeral Home, Victoria, Va.  Graveside Funeral Services will be held Sunday, October 25, 2020 at 2PM in the Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery, 202 Pisgah Church Road, Rice, Virginia 23966
