I am so sorry for your loss. I always loved talking to her about VT. I am having a procedure on my heart Thursday so I will have to take it easy for a few days and will miss her service. You are in our prayers. Mike and Debra Hankins

Daphne and Gordon, We are so sorry to hear of the passing of your mother. I have fond memories of playing with you after school. Your mother was a kind, sweet lady and will surely be missed. Have peace knowing that she is with our Heavenly Father, with no pain and reuniting with loved ones and friends. May you and Gordon find comfort in knowing that that you still have a strong network of friends in Kenbridge who will always care. God Bless.

Avoy Scales Glover, 95, of Kenbridge, Va. joined her family in Heaven on July 1, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Russell Glover; two sons, William Russell Glover, Jr. and Stephen Loper Glover; her parents, Nathaniel Lee Scales and Ada Belle Wood Scales; siblings, Doris E. Shelor and Roy Scales and foster sibling, Alfred P. Brammer. She is survived by a son, Gordon H. Glover (Liza) and a daughter, Daphne D. Glover; daughters-in-law, Andrea Mitman and Diane Glover; 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Avoy graduated from Virginia Tech. She enjoyed playing bridge and was an avid Hokie Football fan and gardner. Avoy was an amazing lady with a great sense of humor, who, as a widow, raised four college graduates while serving as director of Lunenburg County Social Services. She was a member of the Kenbridge Baptist Church where the family will receive friends on Saturday, July 7, 2018 from 10 AM until start of services at 11:00. Dr. Charles Smith officiating. Interment in the Kenbridge Heights Cemetery. We would also like to recognize and thank Avoy’s caregivers, Lillie Shaw, Sharon Shaw, Lisa Morton and many others. We are so grateful for wonderful friends and neighbors that participated in Avoy’s long independence.   Flowers are welcome or please consider a donation to Kenbridge Baptist Church in Avoy’s memory.
