Ray Robin “Buck” Gunn, 84, of Kenbridge, Va. passed away April 27, 2017. Born March 18, 1933, one of nine children of the late Avie White Gunn and Clarence Ware Gunn.  He was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Zenna Grace Hartley Gunn; his wife, Augustine Hawkins Gunn; and his step-son, George Tryon Nevins. He is survived by his daughter, Amy Robin Gunn Wrenn and his grandchildren, Lydia Augustine, Raleigh Hamilton and Ava Elizabeth Wrenn. Buck was a member of the Kenbridge United Methodist Church. He attended Kenbridge High School until he joined the U.S. Navy. He completed his senior year at Granby High Scholl in Norfolk, Va. He returned to the family farm, Dixie Lee Farms, where he lived his entire life. He was an innovative, hard working farmer who raised tobacco, corn, soybeans, cattle and hogs. He also owned and operated tobacco warehouses in Kenbridge. Buck bought the first tobacco barns that Long Manufacturing ever built. Busloads of people from Virginia Tech came to see how the barns worked. Buck could fix anything with a little duct tape and a seat belt strap. He was never afraid to try something new to produce a better yield or outcome. Buck’s wishes were to be cremated and spread on the farm that he loved. The remainder of his ashes will be buried next to his wife Augustine. Family and friends will gather at the Homeplace, “Oral Oakes”, 464 Laurel Branch Road, Kenbridge, Va. to honor Buck’s life on Friday, May 5, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Please consider donations to the Kenbridge Fire Department or the Kenbridge Emergency Squad. They have been ever faithful over the years anytime they  were needed. Online condolences may be made at
