    I will always remember how much fun it was to go to Big Sissy's house when we were kids. There was always cousins there to play with and the grown ups were laughing and having fun too. Aunt Sissy was a classy lady and I looked up to her. She was always dressed so nice and loved life to the fullest. I will miss her.

    She sounds like a wonderful women who's left a great legacy to carry on to generations.I'm sorry for your loss. I hope you can celebrate her life over the coming days and weeks. I'm praying for your family.

    Katherine A. Melton, 89 of Crewe, VA was reunited with her family in heaven on October 10, 2021.  She was born July 19, 1932 in Meherrin, VA. to George L & Lillie R Hayer and was preceded in death by husbands Samuel E. Anderson Jr. and Robert L Melton.  Katherine is survived by her son, George (Jane) Anderson of Baskerville and daughter, Rose (Doug) McDaniel of Crewe.  She is also survived by sisters Lydia Herzig of Jetersville and Frances Robertson of Durham.

    Ms. Melton is survived by nine grandchildren, Ronnie Anderson, Edna (James) Saul, Melody A. Shaw, Julie (Steve) David, Dianna (Aaron) Siever, Eric Gant, Trisha (Lyle) Currin, Douglas (Jesse) McDaniel and Andy (Erin) McDaniel.  She also had eleven great grandchildren: Joyce Anna, Samantha, Christopher, Jenna, Courtney, Jeremiah, Justin, Sterling, Sam, Mary Katherine and Avery Rose and a great-great grandchild, Alanna.

    Katherine attended Crewe Baptist Church and retired from Crewe Garment Company.  She dearly loved spending time with her family and friends, reading the local papers and playing solitaire as well as puzzles.  She loved to tell stories and her contagious laugh will be missed by all who knew her. Special thanks to her loving and devoted caregivers, Wanda Lenning and Tracy Monroe. 

    The family will receive friends at the Clarke Funeral Home, Kenbridge, VA on Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 1PM until start of services at 2PM. Interment to follow in the Kenbridge Heights Cemetery.
