    We are sad to hear about Frances's passing. Please accept our heartfelt condolences. Frances was a sweet, funny, very special lady. She will be missed. Alan Wakefield (Agnes Wakefield's son) and wife, Barbara.

    Mrs. Frances Hubbard Nelson went to be with her Lord July 30, 2020 in Williamsburg, Virginia at 88 year of age.  Frances was a native of Lunenburg County, Virginia where she and her husband farmed and reared four daughters.  Her strong faith and gracious hospitality marked her whole life and impacted all those who knew and loved her.  She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Rice, Virginia before moving to Williamsburg to be close to family where she attended Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church. She is survived by three daughters, Valerie Brooks of Williamsburg, Virginia, Karen Baker of Guyman, Oklahoma, and Debra Woodrick of Ashland, Virginia, 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, as well as one older sister, Margaret Kirtley of Lunenburg County. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Earnest William “Billy” Nelson of Lunenburg County, Virginia, and a daughter, Donalda Brooks of Halifax County, North Carolina. She was also preceded in death by one older sister, Ruth Evans of Poquoson, Virginia, an older brother, Henry Hubbard of Lunenburg, Virginia, two younger sisters, Annie Royster of Lunenburg, Virginia, and Grace Wood of Richmond, Virginia. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, August 5, at 11AM at the Lakeview Cemetery, Victoria, Va. In lieu of flowers please consider memorial donations to Meherrin Volunteer Fire and Rescue, PO Box 94, Meherrin, Va. 23954
