    I will certainly miss this sweet lady. She Always made me call her Betty and not Mrs. Hood. I adored her beautiful smile and her caring ways. Her family is in my thoughts and Prayers. I'll surely miss you Betty. ❤

    I always enjoyed talking with Betty in the store. She was a very kind and thoughtful. My prayers are with your family. May you be given the strength you need in the days ahead.

    HOOD,
    Elizabeth “Betty” Shumate Hood, 90, of Victoria, Va. joined her family in Heaven on May 30, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde J. Hood; her daughter, Suellen McGinnis and her brother, John “Jack” Shumate. She is survived by her sons, Tommy Hoover (Jean) and Jimmy Moses (Diane, deceased); six grandchildren, Norma Archer, Wayne Hoover, Alan Moses, Jason Moses, Stephanie Anderson and Renee Harvey; numerous great-grandchildren; and her sister Dorothy Whitlock. Betty was a member of the Victoria United Methodist Church and retired from the Virginia Department of Correctional Enterprises. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 2, 2019 from 5 to 7PM at the Staples Funeral Home in Victoria. Graveside funeral services will be held Monday, June 3, 2019 at 11AM in the Lakeview Cemetery, Victoria. In lieu of flowers please consider memorial donations to the Victoria Fire and Rescue, P.O.
