I'm sorry to see that Barbara died. She was such a sweet lady. When I had my baby years ago she made a white Afghan for her. I waited in her & Daniel many many times at Brians.

My sympathy is extended to Barbara's family. She will be greatly missed by all her many friends. Our families grew up together in church, working together, and our girls in college together. May you be given the strength you need in the days ahead. You were there and did all you could for her over the past years. Love to all.

I had the pleasure of working with Barbara at SVCC. I will never forget our times together there. She was a dear friend. I rejoice today that she has joined her beloved Daniel in Heaven and I know that I will see her again one day. My deepest sympathy to her family. She loved them so much and was always sharing stories. She was so proud of her family. She cared about our families too. She always wanted to make sure we were ok. God bless you. Please know that Barbara had many friends at SVCC and we are grieving with you.

Sharon and Deanna and families, I am so sorry for your loss and pray that your wonderful memories and God's blessings will ease your sorrow. Barbara never met a stranger and had a ready smile for everyone she saw. She was indeed like her mother (and father!) both were wonderful friendly people and she took after them ! God bless.

Sending all my love to the Ligon and Lane families in the passing of their beloved Matriarch. Miss Barbara was a doll and she will be missed by her community. Heaven truly gained a new bloom!

So very sorry to hear about Barbara. She was a wonderful person as was her husband, Daniel. I will never forget the times that my Mom (Jeanie Daniel), along with Gertrude Abernathy worked at Ben Franklin store in Kenbridge. As they say, "those were the days"! Everyone was "family". Thoughts and prayers for all of you.

Our thoughts & prayers are with each member of the family. Barbara was truly "one of a kind"; hardworking, sweet, considerate and full of love for anyone she happened across. A wonderful example of what a true Christian exemplifies! Our sincere sympathy, Nancy & Everett Pennington

I send sympathy to Barbara's family. I will miss Barbara at Spring Arbor because she always helped me make the flower arrangements for the dining room tables on Tuesdays. And I loved her many pretty hats!

Barbara was the first face I saw when I began my job at SVCC in 1976. She remained a friend throughout all the years. Remembering her as a dedicated Mom, daughter, sister and wife. She loved her family. Sorry we cannot celebrate her life now. Remembering Daniel's service, I know hers would be just as beautiful. One day soon we will celebrate. Sympathy to all the family.

I was fortunate to know Barbara both as a co-worker and as a neighbor. Years ago when I was new to Southside Virginia, Barbara always made me feel at home by her welcoming manner and the interest she took in me. I appreciated this and additionally I always admired her fashion magazine "look." I send my deepest sympathy to her lovely daughters and many other family members.

I had the pleasure of working with Barbara for many years at SVCC. She was one of the warmest, most thoughtful people ever. She will be missed by so many people. My sympathies to her dear daughters and their families and her sister Marsha and other family members. Barb was such a special lady.

Barbara Dodson Moore, originally of Kenbridge, VA, was born on March 18, 1939. After several years of health issues, she met her beloved husband, Daniel B. Moore, in heaven on April 6, 2020. Barbara was the daughter of the late Owen & Irma Dodson. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-laws, Sharon Ligon (Mike) of Richmond and Deanna Lane (Scott) of Richmond; granddaughters and grandson, Michelle Tuck (Marshall), Nicole Jones (Evan), Travis Lane (Ariel) and Danielle Lane; great-grandsons, Elis Jones and Grier Tuck; sister Marcia Abernathy; nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Like her mother, Barbara loved people.  Over the years, she worked at many places – nurse at the Methodist Children’s Home in Richmond, Bookkeeper for her in-laws at The Ben Franklin Store in Kenbridge, Receptionist & Purchasing Agent for Southside Virginia Community College in Alberta and Keysville. In retirement, Barbara did not stop. She was the “self-appointed hostess” at Mildred’s Meals in Kenbridge, until she moved to Richmond in May 2012.  Once in Richmond, she reunited with her college classmates of Johnston Willis Hospital Student Nurses Class of 1960. She also enjoyed her years living at Westwood Village Condos where she was “block” captain and kept up with all of the by-laws and changes. For the previous three years, she resided at Spring Arbor of Salisbury, where she was the “unofficial” mayor & “hospitality” committee. She knew all of the employees and residents there and personally “greeted” each new resident and any of their guests that arrived! Though she would never admit it, she enjoyed her time at Spring Arbor. Those of you that knew Barbara know that she relished being with people, especially her family, enjoying the beach, knitting, crocheting, her hat collection, her “bling,” and socializing with everyone. She will be missed by many! No doubt to her chagrin, Funeral Services will be limited to immediate family on Friday, April 10 due to current mandates. Once this emergency situation is over, a celebration of her life will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kenbridge United Methodist Church Building Fund & Southside Virginia Community College Foundation.
